Antique 1898 English Silver Presentation Trowel

Antique 1898 English Silver Presentation Trowel

A stunning antique c. 1898 English silver plate trowel, hand-engraved to serve as a presentation piece to commemorate The laying of a foundation stone! The hand engraving on the front of the trowel reads: Presented to Miss Amelia Clough On the occasion of the Laying of a Foundation stone Of the New Sun Street Wesleyan Mission Hall Keighley Dec 10th 1898

This piece is in excellent condition, no bends, dents or damage. There is a light antique patina and small, light surface scratches. There is no major damage but there are two small cracks in the ox bone handle, probably due to shrinkage over time, as frequently happens to bone and antler handles. This piece is still very useable and would make an amazing dessert server! No makers marks.

The trowel measures approx. 13 inches long
